Three banknotes, in 100, 200 and 1,000 Ouguiya denominations (B108a–B110a), were printed by De La Rue in the mid-1970s but were never issued. In 2008 they surfaced as specimens only. In 2024 these three unissued notes—along with two 1,000 Ouguiya notes printed by G&D—were sold by the Banque Centrale de Mauritanie to a consortium of banknote dealers.
Each set has exactly matching serial numbers.

During the printing process on many modern notes, a dimple is created where the security thread is on the edge of the note (sometimes called a counting tick), when the notes are run through high speed counters. This does not disqualify the note as UNC.Shipping
